More Honest Messages

I'm using Brian's message to start off this third page of testimonials because it shows that occasionally some progress can be made in a short time. This man has been on the scalp exercise program for just a little over three months, but as you can see from his message, he's a bit of a fanatic - doing the SE much more than the suggested ten or fifteen minutes a day. He has also made some changes in his diet, now getting enough omega-3 fatty acids and other important nutrients.

Well the hair I still have left is shaped like it was 4 years ago when I was 17, and in my senior year of high school. I have some pics from then, some pics from when my hair was really bad, and I can take some pics of the progress and see if I can get em online to show you. Basically my hair was very brittle, thin, stuck flat to my scalp and my hairline was raised considerably. Looking at this picture of June of 2005, my scalp health was awful. Inflammed badly. Even my sideburns were thinner. The areas on my scalp that were thinner are still technically thinner. But I see hairs that were miniaturizing all throughout my scalp are getting longer and longer. I see this especially when I comb my hair in the morning. I still comb it back like I did in school, and then part it down the middle. My hairline is still higher, but I see where the small fuzzy hairs are dark hairs are coming in. I see 1/2 inch to 1 inch hairs right at where my hairline is now (not where it was before) starting to come out and curl down like the rest of my hair. I see more progress on the left side of my hairline, than on the right. So sometimes it's a random regeneration. But it's obvious, especially when I first wake up in the morning what is changing. The hair comes straight up out of the follicles now and goes up about 1/2 inch and then curls down my scalp like it did 4 years ago. Looking at this picture of June, it was totally flat and brittle looking. It's growing LONG again too. Once MPB starts the ability to grow the hair you still have long is lost, so this is another good sign. I work at a CVS/pharmacy store and I saw myself on camera from above, and the balding spot on the back you can't see anymore when it's dry. When it's wet you still can because your hair looks more sparse then. I still have a long long way to go to get back to where it was, but it's obvious if I keep with it that I'll get there. Just remember, the more you do it [the scalp exercise], the more results you will see if it works for you. I do it practically all day long. Everytime I know someone isn't looking at me my scalp is moving back and forth. It takes alot of work just to see a little bit of result. But just think, if it does work for you, where you will be in 2-3 years....

I not only had hair grow between my eyebrows, I got hair growing on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet from doing the scalp exercise. I'm now seeing a few hairs sprouting on the glans of my penis too. The SE really is effective.

This is a testimonial someone wrote about me - Tom Hagerty - the builder of this website. It's from an anonymous poster on the discussion forum.

Hi Tom, I just received your video CD on scalp exercise last week. I played the video and oh my God! Tom your hair looked so great. I'm jealous here. Did you use any products or anything at all? I mean it's amazing how you kept your hair looking so young. Your face too looks a lot younger. If I looked at the video I would guess you are about 48 years old. There's got to be a reason why God led me to this site of yours and hopefully there will be some benefits.

My hair is almost fully recovered thanks to Tom and a couple other things. I got up this morning and looked in the mirror and couldnt help but smile. After more than a year and a half of tribulation my hair is back to what it looked like in high school. My hairline has not been this low in years, and new hairs keep turning into terminal hairs left and right. I have been doing the SE's for exactly 1 year and I can say for a fact that they definitely work. I cannot type much more right now becuz I have to go to work, but I had to post this because its just an incredible feeling to have a FULL head of hair again, and not worry about combing it or brushing it "just right" in attempt to cover balding or thinning spots, or worry about the wind blowing your hair and exposing these "bad" spots.

As it stands I have a full head of hear, coming to my mid 20's now. I intitally embarked on the S.E in hope to halt/prevent my hairloss as I saw some sudden recession around the Temporal areas which saw my hairline receed about 2cm in a matter of 2 months, but then stopped. I decided to undertake the S.E anyway just as a preventative measure (and more optimistically, to try and regain lost hair). I Started the scalp excersize in April 2005 (I posted a message around may 2005 stating that I had gained control over the occipitalis muscles). During that time, there was only a very small movement once I had finally gained control over the occipitalis muscle. At that time, there was as of yet, no forward movement when raising my eyebrows, just the backward movement upon contracting the occipitalis although the forward movement came quickly afterwards. So from May, I was able to do the rocking backwards and forward motion of my scalp (including getting my ears to peel backwards when contracting the occipitalis muscles). Initally there was a noticeable burning sensation but that eventually disappeared as my muscles became stronger. From May last year I have being doing the excersize for about 15 minutes, twice a day (30 mins total a day). At the same time, I upped the my intake of Tofu and broccoli and have continue to do so since then. Over the a series of 3 months, I took pictures of my temporal areas, with intial 3 photo checks showing the hairline reasonably stable. The last few checks has revealed unfortunate news, the recession seems to be accelerating again with 5mm recession on the second to last one (3 months ago and a significant recession of 1 cm with the latest one. Unfortunately the only thing I can conclude is that the Scalp Exercise to date hasn't done much to prevent hairloss and this seems to be leaving me in an uncomfortable situation whereby I may have to admit defeat and go onto propecia to halt the hairloss. So Tom, sorry to burst your bubble here, although I thank you at least presenting the S.E as a suggestion, but obviously as you've stated it doesn't work for everyone.

Alright people. Let me set the record straight.... 1) I first came on this website in May 2005 2) In May 2005 i ordered the SE instructional DVD from Tom 3) In May 2005, i started doing the SE's for at least an hour a day at 10-20 minute intervals. Now when I say an hour a day, i mean for AT LEAST an hour, many days i went for much longer than that. 4) I did experience what I believe was TE in November 2004, I am not sure, but it doesnt matter because my hair was already receding even before the TE started. 5) The TE was in an extremely noticeable MPB pattern, it looked as if i was def. balding in the MPB pattern, I thinned out completely on top in the horseshoe pattern. 6) Like i said, i started the SE's vigorously in 5/2005, and i started taking brewers yeast and flaxseed daily, and started spraying liquid copper peptides(folligen) on my scalp daily(I have continued this even till now) 7) I did not begin to start to see any kind of recovery till perhaps around December/January. I began to see some of my hairs getting thicker and darker, and covering more area. 8) I started taking Protandim and Polyphenols about 3 months ago. I took Protandim for a month and then i experienced a heavy shed which really freaked me out. So i stopped taking it for a week and then grew some balls and started taking it again because I feel it can really help me. 9) I can honestly say that within the last 1-2 months i have seen the most growth that I have seen in the past 12 months of doing the SE's. Tom is extremely correct when he says to be patient and wait till at least 9-10 months to see any results from the SE's because he is very correct. It took me 10-11 months to see large-scale visible results, i.e. almost full recovery. 10) I can swear for a fact that my hair was going downhill quickly. People barely even recognized me becuase my hair looked so bad. But when I found Tom's site my life really turned around. I totally changed my diet(which was horrible and contributing to my balding), i started eating protein/vegetables/unprocessed foods, organic stuff, no sugar, low-fat, etc. I also started exercising almost everyday. I started taking all of the supplements that Tom recommends and i did not stop taking them. 11) The first step in the road to recovery is BELIEVING. You have to believe you can get your hair back, because I believe if you go into this (the SE's) with the outlook that its a joke and wont work for you, then it prob wont. Im not sayin that if you believe then you will get your hair back, because all you have to do is take a look at the testimonial page and you will see that the SE's have not worked for many. But on the other hand they HAVE worked for many. 12) But its not just the SE's. You must make a full body change. There are SO many controlling factors over our hair. We must give it what it needs for it to flourish. Things like laxticity and proper blood supply(the SE's and exercise everyday), proper nutrients in the bloodflow(nutrients Tom recommends), low amounts of fat and sugar in the bloodflow(proper diet). I could go on and on but most of you already know these things. 13) Your body will tell you what things are working for you and which ones are not. That is how I have weeded through the different products that I have and have kept a few of them, because my body told me that I needed them. Not to mention, the mirror told me that they work. 14) Finally, the key through all of this has been the SE's. They gave my scalp a jumpstart back to life. It wanted to just die off and be laid to rest, but I wouldnt let it. I kicked its ass with the SE's till I got the bloodflow pumping and all of the follicles breathing again. I really do believe in the SE's because scientifically it makes since. We work out all of the muscles on our body when we go to the gym, except for the muscles on our heads. When you work out at the gym, your body gets healthier and your muscles flourish. Why cant the same be true about your scalp when you do the SE's? Well, it is true. And people like Tom, Anagen, and me are living proof. 15) Now, i am going to go find that pic right now if it is the last thing i do. And by the way Holly, the reason why it is so hard to provide a pic of Before is because during the "before" time, you could never find me without a hat on. So it would kind of be hard to observe what my hair looked like with a hat on.

I am 26, norwood 2 and diffusely thinning at the front. I have been doing the SE 1 hour per day for the last 13 weeks. The SE is the only thing I do for my hair. After 2 months I noticed an improvement in the quality of my existing hair...daily hairloss continued at the same rate, it possibly even increased slightly, but this is hard to judge. After 3 months the quality of my hair is looking even stronger and healthier, and I'm talking accross the entire scalp, not just at the front. I had a thin patch of hair on the top middle of my head. This patch is filling in nicely. My hair is also growing longer, it's no longer short cycling. Daily hairloss in the last 2 weeks has virtually ground to a total halt. I don't see any fallen hair in my sink, my pillow, not even in my hands when I tug at it. It's getting stronger. If we do lose 40-100 hairs a day then I really don't know where they are coming from anymore...it's strange. I haven't seen any significant regrowth on my hairline as of yet. I haven't seen any hair on my old hairline for up to 6 years so I don't really expect much to happen there, or if it does it will take alot longer. The quality and density of my hair behind my hairline is improving every week, I can honestly say that it looks 10 times better than before I started. I will keep banging 60 mins per day in. I am very happy with the results of the SE, it gives me hope and a sense of control. p.s. I also take 1 cod liver oil tablet and 20 (YES 20!) brewest yeast tablets per day.

I've been doing the exercises for nearly 3 months now. I am 19, my hair has always been fine but in the last few months before I started doing them I started to notice that crown seemed to be thinner than the back or the sides of my head but no spots that looked like they we're balding. It just looked a little thinner and my temples had receeded a little bit ( about a 1/4 of an inch). One week into doing them I cut my hair really short and started doing them 10 minutes 2 times a day (somtimes more), in the begining it was hard to do them, the muscles would really burn but nowadays I can 20 minutes like nothing, and I have to say I've noticed REAL improvment. My hair is thicker and better looking than it's ever been. It no longer falls flat a while after I style it and the crown looks as thick as the rest of my hair. and 6 weeks into the exercise I noticed new hairs on my temples and now they're about 3/4 of an inch long and they don't pull out easy like they did a few months ago. I think your approach is great and i will continue to do them for life. Thanks so much for starting your website. Anyways my one question about them is Do you think I can possibly do them too much and if so what limit would you think is too much?........Thanks again.

Brian Hardaway on Sunday, January 7, 2007

Slowly but surely, those vellus hairs are turning into terminal hairs. Now I'm starting to see noticeable progress on my right side, as well as the left. I've seen progress on the left for a while. If I pull my hair back and tilt my head up in the mirror I see tons and tons of hairs that aren't quite as long as the terminal hairs that were not yet miniaturizing. These are longer than intermediatte hairs. growing 2 inches or longer. The reason I believe my vertex is slowly recovering in the same way is, I see these same hairs sticking out all the way up my middle part, and through the back of my crown. These are not dieing hairs. they have the same thickness as the terminal hairs, and are just as brown. When I magnify my forehead you can still see lots of tiny brown hairs that are exactly where my hairline was in 2002. Basically there's a mix of fine white vellus hairs, tiny brown hairs, intermediatte hairs and terminal hairs. Tom is definitely right. The progress is not dramatic. But I recently found photos of myself from when I was 17 in 2002. And it's slowly but surely growing back to that head of hair. You can still see a thinner vertex, and a higher hairline...especially when it's wet. You really do need to stay committed to this. Especially in cases like mine. I started balding at 18, and it happened FAST. I had been balding for around 3 years before I began to do something about it. 12 months is a good projected time to START to see progress. Depending on your MPB stage and velocity, it could take a long time for it to fully recover. I would guess 2-3, maybe even 5 years to regrow your full head if it works for you. It will be one hair here...another there....very gradual. I hadn't started the advanced SE until a couple months ago. And I recently saw a few old friends I hadn't seen in 9 months or so. And they kept asking me if I had lost weight, and I haven't lost any weight. They were noticing my tighter looking upper face. When I looked into the mirror and paid attention to my face, it looks alot younger than it used to. I've been through a lot of severe psychological and emotional stress, and have done alot of damage to my body, until I became a health freak and started changing my lifestyle a year or so ago. I thought it was permanent damage, and that I would always look alot older and unhealthy because of what I had done. But low and behold, I look like a 22 year old again. Not 40, like someone thought I was about 2 years ago. Yes. they thought I was 40, at 20. Just stick with it. Though it could take years, you won't regret it.

I'm a bit hesitant to post here saying that I've had results so soon but I'm pretty sure I have some new hair growth based on two things. Firstly, I wasn't sure I was going bald until I noticed two rounded 'dents' carving into my temples over a 6 month period. Now these areas are no longer starkly rounded and this is because of the second thing I noticed... Most of the hair on top/sides of my head is over 2 inches long, but I have quite a few hairs in my temple areas that are under 1 inch. I've attached two pictures to illustrate this and let you judge for yourselves:

[You can look at the pictures by going to James C's post on the Discussion forum - show.cgi-tpc=49&post=30410#POST30410.]

The quality is poor (I wasn't planning on presenting comparisons), but if you download the images and look closely (line-up and follow the scalp line) you should see what I am talking about. I think it was worth posting this even though it's not a dramatic improvement. Why? Because I wondered a bit if Tom just had weird genetics and this wouldn't work for me in particular. If not, then why was there a lack of success photos from other people? Anyways, I can't say for certain it's the scalp exercise, but I'm not going to stop to find out. My brother who had temples like me (but a year earlier) is now progressing towards some kind of super widow's peak. I'll post some more pics in 3-6 months and we'll see if this apparent 'growth' continues.

Been on the SE's for almost a year with a regimen of only green tea extract, fish oil, and a daily multivitamin. My hairloss has most definitely stabilized, and hopefully some regrowth will soon follow. Either way, I'm on the SE's for life because of the hair stabilization and the face-toning effects they've had on me. If I can preserve what I've got now, which I think I can, than I'll be one happy guy.

Danny De on Thursday, May 24, 2007 sent to me in an email.

Well I've been doing the scalp exercises for about 9 months now and I have to say I am totoally satisfied with the results. My hairline is back to the way it was when I was 12 (I am 19 now). I am confident that as long as I keep them up I will have a full head of hair like you when I am in my 70's...if I live that long. I've also noticed some other major benefits: I used to get alot of headaches and since I've been doing the SE's I hardly ever do, and when I do, ten minutes of the exercises almost always gets rid of it, My hair was light blonde when I was younger and like most blonde people it started getting darker through my teens, but now the color is like it was when I was in grade school. thanks agian for sharing this wonderful approach to balding i'd say you can't imagine how much this helped me but you probably can because you went through the same thing at my age...thanks again

Jordan on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 posted on the Discussion Forum in reply to another message.

Yeah man. I've basically cut out processed foods (all fried food, sodas, etc.)and started taking supplements about a year ago to go along with a better diet. The supplement routine that I've been following rigorously is as follows:

Mega Green Tea Extract
Brewer's Yeast Powder (thanks Tom)
Grape seed extract w/ Resveratrol
Turmeric
Taurine (1000 mg)

I attribute my recent success to this regimen and daily SE sessions. Keep in mind that this was no overnight ordeal. It took a full year before I began to notice any regrowth. I achieved stabilization after about 4-5 months. I also exercise at least 3-4 times a week. I believe that the combination of these lifestyle changes have led me closer to the promised land. Hope this helps Joshua. Cheers.

Andrew on Friday, December 21, 2007, posted on the Discussion Forum.

I've been doing the scalp exercise for a good couple of years now.
When i first started, i was losing hair like crazy. My brother, one year older was losing hair at the same rate. Fast forward to now and he is pretty much completely bald where as i still have a full head of hair.

Has it made a difference? I believe it very much has.

CM on Sunday, March 9, 2008, taken from an email sent to me, Tom Hagerty, after receiving the video CD about the scalp exercise. CM is more concerned about the facial toning aspect of the scalp exercise than she is about its potential for improving hair growth. She learned about this exercise on my other website, Shape Your Face.com.

Tom, I received the package. Couldn't get it out of the envelope fast enough! Thank you so much. I watched it several times and was blown away each time but how much your scalp moves! Then your face!!! How firm/toned it looks.  You are truly the poster-child for a face that never grows old!

Now about the exercise, I cannot thank you and your forum enough for the discussion on the scalp exercise. I've been lucky to have only ever done it using the occipitalis, because while that was only half the exercise, I was at least doing that part correctly. When you first mentioned that the eyebrow movement was a necessary part of the exercise for deep exercising of the scalp, I totally got the wrong end of the stick and was contracting both at the same time, although I didn't think raising eyebrows was "contracting" the frontalis; I thought frowning would be contracting the frontalis but I now know a different muscle is responsible for that.

So that discussion not only taught me the position of the frontalis muscle but also what action it is responsible for. And most importantly, it highlighted the fact that my latest "understanding" of the exercise involving the eyebrows was all wrong. But nothing shed more light on this than seeing you do the exercise. Even my hubby who's been to reluctant to try the exercise since he finds it hard to do, couldn't help but try it after seeing you do it with such ease.

And I did see your smile.... Your face is so expressive yet has the tone of a 40-year old who's taken good care of his skin and overall health! You truly are an inspiration and your CD is very nicely done. Thank you for taking the time to do this for me and for all who benefit from your work.

Sincerely,

CM
