I'd like to refer anyone reading to this article, it seems the discovery was made quite some time ago but I only recently came across it.
In summary, a laboratory experiment was done on hair follicles in test tubes exposed to caffeine in a solution.
The results showed that the follicles (which were from a patient showing early signs of hairloss) sped up their growth quite significantly when put into a high caffine environment (only in the order of 0.0005%)
Certainly interesting results.
