Tom - When I wash my hair, I have tons fall out. I try to wash my hair every other day. I dred washing it. If I am going through a TE or having loss due to AGA, would washing it everyday cause more loss? In other words, am I going to have the same amount of loss whether I wash everyday or every other? |

KM: You're going to have the same amount of hair loss no matter how many times a week you shampoo your hair. But I think that washing your hair too often is counterproductive. Unless you work in a coal mine or in a steel mill, your hair does not get dirty. You really don't need to scrub it clean. This excess cleaning may just cause inflammation of the hair follicles. I shampoo my hair once or twice a week using a clarifying shampoo and only one application. A clarifying shampoo is a shampoo that does not contain any ingredients other than detergent cleansing agents. It has no herbs, fragrance, or protein hair thickeners added. After I shampoo I thoroughly rinse the shampoo from my hair and scalp. |
