I have been doing extensive research into hair regrowth products, all the while continuing on in my daily scalp excercises. I have finally decided on trying Avacor because it is relatively inexpensive as far as long term maintenance, and more importantly, it addresses all the main issues involved in hair loss, which most products do not. If anyone has tried the stuff let me know... |

Phil: Read carefully the Medical Study on Avacor. With both the oral and the topical medications "Actual regrowth of hair was usually seen on the average within 2 - 4 months in 91% males and within 2 -3 months in 93% females." Doesn't this set off any bells of skepticism in you? In this same medical study I assume written by the Avacor group, you will read that the topical medication with "...a carefully selected combination of minerals , vitamins, amino acids and known hair growers..." are added to the medication "...to provide the basic nutrients necessary for the metabolism of healthy follicular cell development." It sounds plausible doesn't it? Well, except for one thing. Minerals, vitamins, and amino acids cannot be absorbed through the scalp. These molecules are too big. If you want minerals, vitamins, and amino acids, why not just eat healthy food or even take a supplement. But then, Phil, maybe I'm missing something. Perhaps my study of molecular biology has blinded me to the merits of this product. If Avacor is helping you, that's all that counts. |

Well, I've been taking Avacor for about three months and have seen absolutely no results. I'm considering Propecia, or just shaving my head. |

Tom , are there any negative long term side effects of propecia. My dermatologist told me it is a very safe drug , what are your thoughts ? |

Anonymous: Kevin McElwee who is the Webmaster of Keratin.com uses this drug and it has evidently stabilized his hair loss. Go to his Web site and enter the discussion forum there. You'll find many posts pro and cons about Propecia. Most people say that it is a very safe drug so your dermatologist is probably right. It does change your hormone balance a little though. That's why some men (one or two percent) have a diminished libido after using the drug. Long, long term studies of the side effects of the drug have not been done because the drug is relatively new. |
