Hi I'm 19 and started thinning about two years ago, at first I didn't want to accept the fact, not even when my beautiful extra-thick hair flattened, but when My hairline receded It was too late to cry so I started minoxidil and things went smoothly for the next year (I recovered my hairline in a couple months), anyway thinning seems to have started again, and just when I was about to buy propecia I learned about the scalp exercises(thank god I could wiggle my ears beforehand), I really believe they work and I'll do them as long as I have to, I've less than a month doing them and my hair is still falling like crazy, but I don't care about it anymore, I believe in a year I'll have most of my hair again. Anytime when I get discouraged/depressed I simply return to this website and get all my hope back. 8 to 12 months may sound like a lot but it is not a lot to me I know I can and I know I will succeed!
thank you tom, not yet for giving me the secret to a recover my hair(god, It was beautiful) but for returning my hopes.

hey i'm 20 and about the same situation as you. i was in denial also and only began seeking treatment the start of this year after comparing my photos from couple of years ago. my hair line has receded but i didn't use chemicals. it's been almost 2 months since beginning the SE and I've noticed so many vellus hairs dropping out along with thinning hairs. i have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that i'll regain my full head of hair.

Im in the same boat as you guys as im 19 and have been thinning since i was 17. Been doing the SE's for 4 months so far with no visible results or change in my shedding but I've promised myself to give it 8-12 months at least. It has toned my face if anything so ill probably keep doing em for the rest of my life regardless. I hope you guys have great success!

I agree with you Jeff:

If nothing else, the SE's most def. are great for toning up your face. I like the way it has actually made my forehead look.. muscular I guess is the only way to describe it. But because they work in this respect, I don't think I'll ever stop doing them.

I've noticed that when I do the exercises in the morning it often feels like as if my scalp, underneath the skin, has tightened up and, for lack of better idea to describe it, reattached a bit to the scalp. This leads to a nice loosening feeling when I first do them- though I do like the feeling of doing them regardless..

Tom:

Well this is really for Tom and everyone to tell me what they think:

I also have added a new thing that I do with my scalp that Ive been meaning to ask about one here.. It involves tensing up the OCC and frontalis muscles as tight as I can get them- so the scalp is tight. I then put my hands on my scalp and try my hardest to rock my scalp skin around on my head.. It takes great effort, but I can get it to move. Ive been doing it for about 2 months now and my scalp feels a lot looser and my hair looks pretty good, as I keep saying in my posts. Just want an opinion on my new little trick :-)

Brick Top: I've been doing the same thing for months now tightening my scalp and using my hands to move the skin... I feel this benefits as well. Only thing I try to avoid is rubbing the hair follicles to much. I try just using my finger tips to move the skin and certain spots seem to tighten up more then others.

Brick Top and Kiel JP:

I never thought of that but it sounds like a good idea. After I read your messages I tried doing it as you described. When you tense both the frontalis and occipitalis at the same time, it is tough to move the scalp. It might be a beneficial variation of the SE. Thanks for the idea.

Roger that bossman.

Kiel:

How do you do it with just your fingertips? I have some fairly strong hands and forearm muscles, but after a few minutes of doing this exercise my forearms burn. I guess I just get rougher with it- I dont really worry about being too gentle with the follicles. My scalp doesn't get agrivated from it.. Look like a complete weirdo doing it though- I think this one tops how strange you look doing the SE's. Not one for public use thats for sure.

Using the hands or fingers to move the skin of the scalp is OK, but rubbing the scalp vigorously (a scratching motion) I don't think is a good idea.

I do it sort of gently... by moving a small section of the scalp as I tighten the frontalis & occipitals. I sometimes do a sort of circular motion with that section that I'm focusing on.

Tom:

Brick Top never wrote that. :-)

Kiel:

I think that we're basically doing the same thing- I just did them to see what kind of a motion Im doing when performing them. It is kind of a circular motion- along with some random side to side and back to front motions- whatever gets that tight scalp moving, however slightly.

Its weird, but it seems that at different points in the day I can move it more than others. That is, sometimes it seems like my scalp is looser than others. What do you think though? Has it improved the laxity of your scalp?

Yeah I did notice that certain points it seem alot tighter. After I get out of the shower it seems tighter. I've been doing this on and off for a few months now and my scalp seems to be a bit looser but I feel it would benefit much more if I stuck to it everyday.

Also for anyone is interested I got on the news for hairloss using some laser machine to get my hair back. Here is the page just click on the video: http://www.thebostonchannel.com/health/11156737/detail.html

"It grew back. It hasn't been falling out anymore. I maintained everything I had," McKivergan said.

You fail to mention that you're on Propecia, and doing a bunch of other things. Are you seriously saying what you quoted???

Looking at you hair, you also practically have no hairloss at all.

Tom what do you make of all this. Plus LUCE was never FDA approved. The hairmax laser comb was.
