How do you find out if you're an Eqoul producer or not?

Almost everybody produce equol but there is only about 30-40% of people who eat good enough to produce this substance.. If you want to create or to boost your equol roduction you have to add yoguts, tzaziki... or other foods rich in natural bacteria.. and start adding a bit of soy suplements to your diet. Equol will come sooner then you might think.

I've been taking genistein w/daidzein for a few weeks and I think I may see signs that it's actually working. Genistein is a precursor to equol, but I can't seem to find much inofrmation on this process. I've also been taking "friendly bacteria" tablets at bed time to help with the conversion.

Anyway, I had some very persistent acne on my shoulders/back (I attribute this to excessive DHT in my body which I think SP helped induce). After taking this supplement, my acne has really cleared up and my skin in general is less oily.

Obviously, it is way to early to tell if this will help with my hair. I have to say I have noticed an increase in shedding, almost like I've heard people on Fin. talk about. I'll report next month to see if there are any changes. Keep the peace.

In what form are you taking the genistein and daidzein? Is it a supplement that you can get from a regular drug store? I definitely want to hear your updates in the next few weeks.

john,

it's Source Naturals Genistein Soy Complex. I bought mine online...I'm sure most drug stores don't carry it. Anyway, I do believe it has had an affect on my systemic DHT. The reason why I won't take propecia is because I fear the repurcusions of lowering DHT plasma levels. People forget that DHT has other important roles in the body and there havent been any long term studies on this. Anyway, as I said before, my skin has really cleared up and its no longer oily. As to weather or not this will help maintain my head of hairIm not sure.

There have been some studies which suggest that lowering DHT levels has no affect on sebum production. Im not so sure about that because I have noticed a big difference. I also believe that certain people will respond differently to medications/supplements. Just as some respond to Minox, a greater majority will probably not. I believe that equol may help, but other measures need to be taken as well, especially if DHT has caused the hair follicles to shrink. I agree with jpj (for the most part) and believe the battle is with miniaturization.

Actually I read some of your old posts, so I know this has been in your regimen for some time. How have you been coming along?
