I dont know if any treatments are being extrapolated from this discovery or whether it will ever eventually be able to help humans, but it is new info..........what would we do without those poor lab rats?

Here is a link with pictures of the mice that regrew hair http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4283302.stm

Its pretty fascinating stuff isn't it? Dont know if humanity will ever benefit from the discovery, but neat nonetheless. Question: Wonder if that mouse in the pictures is a hit with the ladies now : )

That is interesting. What we need to start doing is getting some volunteer humans to try these experiments rather than use mice. Im sure there are some bald people out there who would try it, i mean look at some of the other things people try. You got morons like BON who tell people not to have sex or masturbate in order to regrow hair. We should use him for such an experiment as the one the rat went through.

Anon, im on your page man. Im not bald, yet. I am however losing my hair at age 23 and with no other bald men in my family, its embarrasing. Im losing hair so fast.

So sign me on the list for experimental gene alteration as well. Whats the worst that can happen, my hair will fall out? Bon will cut off my hands so that I cant masturbate?

Bon is my friend and if anyone has anything to say about him, they have to go through me. Just because you guys are jealous doesnt mean you have to talk about him. Grow up guys.

Anyway, the article is great reading but i dont see how it can benefit humans. A mouse is 1:1000 the size of a human. Get real Leet and anon. You two can keep on beating it and having sex with your women over and over, and you will be bald. I wont be because i rationalize and only have sex once a week.

jpj:

In the second article you linked to was this statement - "But the researchers found by introducing a normal gene in bald mice they were able to restart the process, resulting in successful fur growth."

Wouldn't it be great if those researchers could simply introduce a normal gene in humans resulting in successful "fur" growth.

These research projects in gene transfer and signaling pathways (intercellular communication) will eventually produce results that we (humans) can benefit from. Thanks for the links.

You must be mistaking me for someone else, LEET. I never accepted those claims and I was mocked about it.

how perceptive.

Hey Bon,

are you back? Or is this just some other idiot faking you? I'm sure you're still doing the scalp exercises so I think there is a fair chance it's you...if so...good to hear from you, man!

Call me silly, but after reading that article...................Im ready for science to inject me with the "normal" hair gene and see if all my lost hair turns from vellus to terminal.

Why not give it a try NOW. It obviously worked for the mouse in the picture.

Im in a state of disbelief about that last posting. I doubt the authenticity of the poster; I know bon would never write such a repulsing statement. He is probably one of the most educated people on this site in regards to hairloss and treatment options, with respect to Tom Hagerty. Sorry about his ignorance real bon.

Lord William:

You're right. The real Bon would never post a message like the one above. He told me that he was disgusted by the few who try to corrupt this forum with their personal attack, vulgarity, and general stupidity. He doesn't want any more of it. I'll miss him. Even though English is not his language, he writes English better than 99 percent of Americans, and the intellectual content of his messages was always stimulating.

Lord William, I think the REAL Bon has left this forum for good. A couple of weeks ago, a couple of prats kept posing as him using his name and he got really pissed off about it. He said he would not post anymore, and since then he has'nt. Just wanted to let you know.

Why would Bon get so mad about a few ignorant people in here, enough so to leave this forum for good? Bon should learn to shut out these forum terrorists and just roll with the punches. He's too good a man to let this get to him.

BON COME BACK MAN! WE CAN ALL USE THE HELP!

Honestly, Bon, if I knew you would be taking it the wrong way, i would have never said that. Sorry man. You are very helpful in here and i would hate to think that i contributed towards driving you out of here.

Id be very interested to see the "normal" gene implanted in someone to see the effect. Its very fascinating that something so simple could grow all that hair on that mouse.

I have thought that baldness was the result of inheriting several genes that have a cumulative effect on the follicles and the scalp with the capillaries, immune system, sebaceous glands also affected. Its incredible that the one gene seems to regulate the follicle regenerating itself at the end of catagen could keep hair despite the other factors that happen in the etiology of baldness. That is as signifigant a find as Ive seen in quite some time.

By the way, on Bon...........I regularly used to post using another name. I used to tell the truth about the big mill transplant industry and a particularily despicable outfit called Hairclub for Men using it. It wasnt long before my name was being smeared falsely all the time and I was being accused of being a scammer even though I dont sell anything and dont work in the cosmetics business in any way. You can believe it that folks who work in sales for various hair tonics log onto hairsite, 4hair.com, HLT, HLH, Hairloss-reversible, regrowth, keratin, stophairlossnow and various others posting phony testimonials, deriding competing treatments etc.

My personal pet peeve are transplant salesmen taking decieving, badly lit photos of before and afters (NEVER showing you the newly denuded thinned out donor areas) and talking about how surgery changed their lives. Their used to be one called DAMO on this forum who claimed to be such a happy hair transplant recipient. He's posted hundreds of times on Hairlosstalk always "talking up" transplants and urging others to get them. Sound like just another guy happy with his surgery? Hell no, he's a salesman trying to steer people to his surgeon or he wouldnt be spending all his spare time on forums.
