Hello, i started doing the scalp exercises about 7 months ago, though i was probably only doing it right for the last 5/6 months. I began doing the exercise due to one side of my hairline beginning to thin and recede..hoping to maintain what i had... I would say that things are still about the same, maybe a little worse and it appears that my other side of my hairline is thinning now... i have a fringe, so i can still hide the baldness decently with a bit or arranging lol I do short bursts of the exercise a few times a day..so maybe 5 mins of it...3 or 4 times a day.. so far i wouldn't say it is working for me..but i guess i'll have to see how things are in a year or two to really tell I am nearly 21 years of age btw |

I noticed that one of the sides of my hairline started thin too, about 1 year ago. at that time I decided it was time to start doing something, because I wouldn't ever let baldness win this battle. I changed my entire diet: started avoiding junk food, sugars, started eating nothing but healthy food and started taking a tablespoon of brewer's yeast every day as recommended on this website. It feels kinda awkward to say this but since then, this healthy life-style I adopted has become an obsession, I can't eat unhealthy food anymore because it makes me feel guilty, and this sucks when you go eat out with friends and there is nothing healthy enough for you to eat, you know haha I have also started doing the scalp exercise in massive amounts of time, even though I realized some months later that the way I was doing it was perhaps not the most adequate way: my eyebrows are sort of not symmetrical, so I was lifting my right eyebrow much higher than the left (the right side of my hairline is the one that didn't start thinning). so I corrected that movement, focusing on lifting both my eyebrows at the same level. so, here I am now, 6 months later and my left temple is still thinner than the rest of the hair, even though it is not noticeable for anyone yet, I am not sure if it has stopped thinning, so I took some pictures, which maybe later I will post on this forum, in order to compare to some pictures I will take in a couple of months. on the other hand, my right temple has stayed the same in this year that has passed, it hasn't started thinning, I think. so, basicaly, that's the only thing that's holding me on to the scalp exercise. this situation sucks, because you don't know how it would look if you hadn't started doing the exercise and started eating healthy. but I am willing to take the risk, you know, life is a gamble, that's the most fun thing about it take care |

thanks for the story I also take about a tables spoon of brewers yeast everyday, though i wouldnt say i have changed my diet too much. But thats because i'm a really fussy eater lol. Its 10 days on lol and both sides of my hair line are definitely thinning now...but until this becomes very noticeable, i will carry on with the scalp exercise. I have also started massaging my hairline too...dunno if its helping, but it makes me feel better to know i'm doing all i can A Bit more of my history...i think i initially started thinning at about 17 when my college exams got really stressful, i'm nearly 21 now and its still not too bad, which is good. My dad is nearly completely bald at 52...my uncle is bald..my grandad is bald...my gran is bald haha well shes not actually sorry i got a bit carried away :p..i think i have no hope! lol |

yeah, the thinning on the one side of my hairline started when I was 17 too. I had my hair pretty long back then, but have been buzzing it since 3 months ago. This is such a stupid situation, I loved to wear my hair long, it made me feel good about myself, and always got compliments about my appearance, now with short hair I feel just average. but one thing that comforts me is that I have a lot of friends that have receeded much much further than me and are just my age, it's evil, I know, but it gives me comfort. I still have faith, maybe one day I will be able to wear my hair long without having to care. I think I will feel like the king of the world when that day comes haha |

Aleixo: "I think I will feel like the king of the world when that day comes haha." I remember distinctly feeling like the king of the world after I got my hair back and driving down the Harbor Freeway in Los Angeles in my old convertible Ford - hair blowing in the wind - a nice feeling. |

Carlos: Fine hairs under a half inch long are vellus hairs. These will usually not grow any longer, but it's a good sign if these vellus hairs are growing from your scalp. In future hair cycles the vellus follicles that produced these fine hairs might change into terminal hair follicles and produce a thick pigmented hair that will grow to the usual length. This change if it does occur takes place in the early stage of anagen. Anagen is the growth stage of the hair cycle. |

Carlos: It can take six months to a year for this kind of transition from vellus to terminal hair but there is no guarantee that this will even happen. Shaving vellus hairs will definitely not speed up the process. This has been tested many times. |

Carlos: If vellus hairs are appearing in an area where previously there was no hair, this could be an indication that the scalp exercise is having an effect. |
