Is lots of protein necessary for hair regrowth after TE? Or will sufficient calories with the moderate 10-15% calories from protein do?

Sie,

I think about 10% of all your daily meals should be protein based. Eat meat/ and all protein for that matter sparingly. Eat protein first, so your blood sugar can adjust. Avoid soy. Avoid all milk and cheese. Add yogurt to the diet. Vegetables/moderate foods should be #1, also Olive oil, coconut oil sparingly and flaxmeal and Fish Oil (Carlson brand) and Brewer's Yeast. E-mail me for any other info...

Sorry Sie, in sentence #7 I meant to say "Eat a lot of vegetables (preferably Organic), and eat fruit in moderation (high sugar content). And whatever you do, AVOID ALL COKE, AND EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: The water is contaiminated with flouride that is mind-altering.. no kidding.. And avoid ALL CORN PRODUCTS... chips.. popcorn..

Sometimes this site confuses me. I don't see why having fresh corn on the cob would be bad for you. It's got some good B vitamins as well as vitamin A. I think any fresh vegetables would be fine. Also, I read on another thread that soy is a good source of Equol which might be good for hair growth. Especially miso. Everything in moderation is a cliché, but good to follow...

Holly,

There has been documented research that says how contaminated corn is today. It is loaded with bacteria, all of which are known to cause cancer. Believe me when I say to avoid all corn-containing products.

Eric,

If yoghurt is allowed why isn't milk or cheese? Isn't yoghurt just milk with good bacteria in it? And soy supposedly increases estrogen levels, which promotes hair growth.

Rachel and Holly:

When I read "Believe me when I say..." or "Trust me when I say..." I tend to be supercritical of what the person says. I'm sure the guy who posts under the cryptic question mark means to enlighten us all. My inclination would be to ask a few questions.

It seems that people are so desperate that they will believe in anything.

About the above post, "There has been documented research that says how contaminated corn is today. It is loaded with bacteria, all of which are known to cause cancer. Believe me when I say to avoid all corn-containing products."

I have heard this too. I have eaten microwaveable popcorn for the longest time and when I cut that out of my diet I didn't notice anything, but I do believe that corn in itself may be harmful. I consider it something like soy. Dr. Mercola says soy is BAD for our health, but then their are claims that say soy fights cancer. So, who do you believe? If you can answer that question, well, you'd be very famous.

Here are some interesting articles that you may like to read. I am going to personally say that I do no longer consume corn. Am I afraid of corn? No, but I'd rather eat peas instead.

Eric R:

I have been reading the newsletters of Dr. Mercola for a long time just as you have. I have a request: Would you make a list of all the foods that Dr. Mercola says are BAD for your health. Does Dr. Mercola say it's OK to breathe the air and drink water? :-)

No Tom, try not to breathe. It's hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it. Kind of like the scalp exercises. ;)

Holly:

You and Dr. Mercola are probably in league with each other - a conspiracy to keep us all healthy at any cost.

Tom,

lol..... I know exactly what you mean. If I listed everything he says not to eat, it might take weeks. Dr. Mercola thinks everything is bad. I "was" a huge fan of his, but now I'm taking more of a Dr. Andrew Weil approach to eating (everything in moderation). But yes, you and Holly are both exactly right. Dr. Mercola is a little bit on the "THOU SHALT NOT EAT _______" side. :-)

Everyone: I just wanted to note something I have noticed. I have quit taking my Whey protein supplement which is the Optimum Nutritions' brand or (ON's) about 3 weeks ago and have noticed my hair is a little thinner in the back. I may have to attribute this towards stopping my 1 scoop of protein powder mix every morning. I "used" to mix it in with the Brewer's Yeast powder, but lately (in the past 3 weeks) have only taken the Brewer's Yeast powder. Is it a coincidence that my hair has gotten thinner? Maybe..... but I really think it has to do with stopping the Whey protein... so after much thought, I'm going to start back with the Whey protein... Please keep in mind, this is just my observation.....
